Aurora Networks buys Trident7 PON line from Enablence Technologies

Aurora Networks Inc., which supplies optical communications systems to cable operators, has purchased the Trident7 Universal Access Platform line from Enablence Technologies (TSX VENTURE:ENA). The company will pay $5.1 million, comprised of $2.75 million of cash and the assumption of certain liabilities and contingent liabilities, for its new assets, in a deal expected to close by September 15, 2011. Aurora Networks will pair the Trident7 capabilities with its existing PON technology to offer cable operators the choice of EPON, GPON, and point-to-point Ethernet fiber access options.

ACA to FCC: Reject telco USF reform plan

The American Cable Association (ACA) filed comments with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) today urging the commission not to adopt a plan submitted by six major telcos to transition the Universal Service Fund to a more broadband friendly program.

Cox taps Bye to lead business wholesale group

Cox Business has named Jeremy Bye vice president of wholesale and national accounts. Bye will oversee all wholesale sales, sales operations, and technical support functions. He also will be responsible for growing and managing the base of national account customers purchasing retail services from Cox on a market-wide basis.

Fujitsu promises Ethernet-over-Anything

While string is probably not supported, Fujitsu says its “Ethernet over Anything” (EoX) technology will now enable service providers to offer Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF)-compliant Ethernet services end-to-end across a variety of wired transmission media. Initially deployed on the EoX Gateway configuration of the Fujitsu FLASHWAVE 9500 Packet Optical Networking Platform (Packet ONP) and present as well on the FLASHWAVE 7120 Micro Packet ONP and FLASHWAVE 4100 ES Micro Packet ONP, Fujitsu now has extended the EoX capabilities to its access products.
