u²t Photonics AG has added what it asserts is the fastest coherent photodetector on the market to its line of coherent components. The CPDV1200R supports up to 64 Gbaud for use in designs targeting 400-Gbps or 1-Tbps optical transmission applications based on coherent detection.

Fibrecomm improves capacity of Malaysian network with Ciena 40G

Ciena Corp. (NASDAQ: CIEN) says that Malaysian carrier Fibrecomm Network (M) Sdn. Bhd. is expanding its network with equipment from Ciena, including advanced optical technologies such as 40G, OTN switching, and directionless ROADMs. The carrier is the first in the region to deploy Optical Transport Network (OTN) switching and directionless ROADM technology, according to Ciena.

NSF, Vixar target 40-100 Gbps VCSEL

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded Vixar a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract to demonstrate the feasibility of a composite resonator VCSEL (CRVCL) that can support a 40- to 100-Gbps serial data transmission rate.

CyOptics intros 40Gbps TOSA, ROSA for QSFP+ transceivers

CyOptics Inc. has made available a new series of 40-Gbps transmit optical subassemblies (TOSA) and receive optical subassemblies (ROSA) for use in Quad Small Form Factor Pluggable (QSFP+) transceivers. Such transceivers are growing increasingly popular as interfaces for high-bandwidth routers and switches in datacenter and enterprise networks.

Overture rebrands, refocuses
