BinOptics Corp. says it has received $13.3 million in new investment. The Ithaca, NY-based manufacturer of lasers and monolithically integrated optoelectronic components will use the funding to continue expansion of its product lines and to accelerate development of new products.

Omnitron Systems Technology has unveiled the new iConverter XG+ 10-Gbps media converter, a protocol-transparent unit with two pluggable transceiver ports that support Power Level 4 XFP optical transceiver modules. The iConverter XG+ therefore can function as a long-range fiber repeater or a wavelength transponder, Omnitron says.

BTI Systems has introduced what it calls “Dynamic Optical Layer” capabilities for its existing BTI 7000 Series packet optical networking platforms and BTI 700 Series Carrier Ethernet platforms. The new capabilities, contained in a set of line cards, are designed to automate much of the process involved in provisioning and turning up new optical network services.

EXFO Inc. (Nasdaq:EXFO) (TSX:EXF) says it has added one-way delay measurement to its portable Ethernet backhaul test offering. The new capabilities complement EXFO's patent-pending bidirectional testing functionalities for IP/Ethernet service validation. EXFO says it now offers the only portable Ethernet backhaul test units to perform true one-way delay measurement, using any of the available reference clocks.

Australia-based test instrument company Kingfisher International has unveiled the KI2600 range of optical power meters for fiber-optic test and installation applications. The field-portable KI2600 can be used to verify optical power and loss in installed communications links using "most fiber types,” Kingfisher says.
