J.R. Simplot selects Zayo for 10G critical metro connectivity among corporate data centers in Boise

J.R. Simplot, a privately owned food processing and agricultural company, has selected Zayo, a provider of bandwidth and fiber infrastructure services, to provide high-bandwidth connectivity to 10 major facilities in the Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell, Idaho area.

French broadband Internet service provider (ISP) Celeste selected the Tellabs 7100 Nano Optical Transport System (OTS) to expand its fiber-optic network to all major cities in France and to respond to high bandwidth demand from business customers.

Net trials 100GbE router cards from Juniper Networks

Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR) says that iiNet (ASX: IIN), an Australian DSL Internet service provider, began in May a two-month trial of 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100GbE) router interface cards in its backbone network. The cards are installed in Juniper Networks T1600 Core Routers iiNet installed in its backbone optical network at the beginning of this year.

China Unicom selects Siemens to deploy optical network

Nokia Siemens Networks will provide its hiT 7300 DWDM system, with 40-Gbps transponders. The transponders use coherent polarized-multiplexed QPSK (CP-QPSK), the system house’s version of DP-QPSK with coherent detection.

DECC Awards Intellifiber three-year contract

The Defense Information System Agency (DISA) has awarded Intellifiber Networks, a subsidiary of PAETEC Holding Corp. (NASDAQ GS:PAET), a Department of Defense to supply fiber services to the Defense Enterprise Computing System (DECC), located at the Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA.

JANET(UK), Verizon collaborate on 100-Gbps networking

Verizon (NYSE, NASDAQ:VZ) has supplied technical expertise to JANET(UK), the provider of the U.K.'s JANET research and education network, with the goal of enabling JANET’s users to leverage 100-Gbps transmission capabilities. JANET(UK) announced 100-Gbps capabilities for the JANET optical network on May 4.
