China Telecom to deploy Alcatel-Lucent service routers
August 26, 2011Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext and NYSE:ALU) says that China Telecom will deploy the system house’s 7750 Service Routers and 5620 Service Aware Manager portfolio to upgrade its network to include 100-Gbps capabilities. Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell, Alcatel-Lucent’s flagship company in China, received the contract.
Mobily trial 100-Gbps to support mobile services
August 26, 2011Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext and NYSE:ALU) and Mobily, the brand name of a Saudi Arabian mobile operator Etihad Etisalat, say they have successfully completed a trial of 100-Gbps transmission technology using live traffic in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
Cisco ASR 9000 deployment
August 26, 2011Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) says that US Signal will deploy the network equipment provider’s ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers as part of a fiber-optic network upgrade. The upgrade aims to support virtual Carrier Ethernet services at rates up to 100 Gbps and new managed data center services for enterprise customers. IPv6 support is also a key element, Cisco asserts.
AFL provides fiber optic cable for this area

Nigeria’s National Broadband Carrier Network Project includes 14,000 km of fiber-optic network infrastructure linked through regional network owners to enable advanced communications to all regions of the country.

August 26, 2011Hibernia Media, a subsidiary of transatlantic bandwidth provider Hibernia Atlantic that supplies managed video transport, has installed optical transport equipment from Ekinops to carry uncompressed, high-definition video signals at its New York City Content Exchange Center (CEC).
Polish Telecom to deploy Cisco CRS-3, ASR 9000 Series routers
August 25, 2011Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) says that Polish Telecom (Telekomunikacja Polska, or TP Group) will deploy the systems supplier’s Cisco CRS-3 Carrier Routing System and Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers as part of an optical network upgrade.
