Global Net Access deploys ADVA Optical Networking FSP 3000

Global Net Access (GNAX), which provides data center services, colocation, cloud computing, and managed hosting in the U.S., has deployed the FSP 3000 from ADVA Optical Networking (FSE: ADV), the system houses says. GNAX used the WDM system to increase the capacity of the connection from its Atlanta NAP data center to a Telx interconnection facility as well as support service level agreements (SLAs) and low-latency requirements.

Telecom Egypt adds 40-Gbps service to TE North Mediterranean undersea cable system

Telecom Egypt (ETEL.CA; TEEG.LN) has provisioned its first 40-Gbps service over the TE-NORTH Cable System with Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) equipment that uses coherent detection. TE-NORTH's use of coherent-enabled 40-Gbps technology is a first for Mediterranean submarine cable systems, Alcatel-Lucent asserts.

Rio networks selects ADTRAN for network replacement

Rio has selected equipment from both ADTRAN’s broadband and enterprise network portfolios to improve delivery of business and residential services.

SRT Communications uses Zhone MXK for IPTV with Microsoft Mediaroom

Zhone Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:ZHNE) says it will supply its MXK multi-service access node (MSAN) to North Dakota telephone cooperative SRT Communications for the delivery of IPTV. SRT Communications will use the MXK and Microsoft Mediaroom to offer IPTV and video services via fiber to the home (FTTH) and ADSL2+.

Pangaea Networks uses Ciena CESD platforms for metro Ethernet network

Pangaea Networks, which offers wholesale multi-protocol metro Ethernet local loop connectivity, will use Ciena’s 3960 Service Delivery Switch in its metro backbone and to deliver Ethernet ring services, Ciena (NASDAQ:CIEN) says. Pangea will use the Ethernet access system part of Ciena’s Carrier Ethernet Service Delivery (CESD) line, for Ethernet business services aimed at service providers in the New York City and tri-state area.
