Draka opens FTTH Network Engineering Services consultancy

Draka Communications has launched Draka Network Engineering Services, which it asserts is a technology-independent FTTH consulting services operation. It is available to work with communities, local authorities, and other organizations planning or constructing passive fiber network infrastructures and can assist with initial infrastructure assessments, including calculations on labor and material costs that help to build a convincing business case.

Woodstock Telephone taps Cyan for packet-optical transport for broadband stimulus project

Cyan says that Woodstock Telephone, an independent operating company based in Ruthton, MN, has chosen its Cyan Z-Series of multi-layer packet-optical transport platforms, CyMS multi-layer management system, and its recently announced CyNOC network operations center (NOC) service to expand its fiber network with two transport rings to support over 3,600 premises in the southwestern portion of the state. The network, which will triple the size of Woodstock’s serving area, will be built with a combination of grants and loans totaling over $15 million awarded from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds under the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) Broadband Initiative Program (BIP).
