BVU chooses Calix C7 for GPON broadband stimulus project

Bristol Virginia Utilities (BVU) has selected the EXA Powered Calix C7 Multiservice Access Platform (MSAP) and the 700GX/GE family of GPON ONTs for a network expansion funded with broadband stimulus dollars, Calix, Inc. (NYSE:CALX) says. The project is designed to expand BVU’s fiber access network across an eight-county region of southwestern Virginia.

Infinera wins broadband stimulus deal from North Georgia Network

Infinera (Nasdaq: INFN) says that it has won a contract from North Georgia Network Cooperative (NGN) to supply equipment for a broadband stimulus project that will see the deployment of a fiber-optic network from Atlanta to North Carolina. The network will support the delivery of broadband services to thousands of community anchor institutions, businesses, and homes in rural North Georgia.

TE Connectivity wins $400 million network connectivity contract for Australian NBN high-speed broadband rollout

Telekom Austria brings FTTH to Vienna

The Telekom Austria Group says it has “successfully finalized” the roll out of fiber-optic infrastructure in the 15th and 19th Vienna districts as part of its fiber pilot project. The pilot project will use both fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and fiber-to-the-curb (FTTC) topologies.

H.I.G. Europe, the European arm of global private equity firm H.I.G. Capital, announced that funds advised by H.I.G. European Capital Partners LLP have acquired Fibercore, Ltd., a U.K.-based global designer and manufacturer of specialty optical fibers, from Cisco.
