Clearwave chooses Cyan, Juniper Networks for Southern Illinois Data Center and broadband stimulus project

Delta Communications, LLC, doing business as Clearwave Communications, says it has selected Cyan and Juniper Networks as its strategic suppliers of packet optical transport and routing platforms, respectively. Clearwave was awarded $31,515,253 in Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) funding as part of the broadband stimulus program, plus $11,351,250 in matching State of Illinois funding as part of the Illinois Broadband Opportunities Program (IBOP).

Warren & Brown Technologies to supply NBN cable hardware

Fiber-enabled smart grid initiative launched on Prince Edward Island

The City of Summerside, the second largest city on Prince Edward Island, Canada, will use technology from Tantalus to tie together the municipality’s fiber-to-the-meter network, wind-generated power, and in-home energy storage devices. The smart grid project is designed to enable the city to optimize the performance of its distribution network and reduce its carbon footprint by providing consumers with a reliable, low cost source of renewable energy.

Forty-one UK market towns on BT’s next super-fast broadband list

BT has unveiled a list of 41 “market towns” in which it will deploy its fiber to the cabinet (FTTC) super-fast broadband infrastructure. BT plans to connect approximately 300,000 businesses and consumers with FTTC and offer broadband speeds of up to 40 Mbps by Spring 2012.
