Celeste selects Tellabs for nationwide fiber-optic network

French broadband Internet service provider (ISP) Celeste selected the Tellabs 7100 Nano Optical Transport System (OTS) to expand its fiber-optic network to all major cities in France and to respond to high bandwidth demand from business customers.

China Unicom selects Nokia Siemens Networks

Nokia Siemens Networks says it will deploy a 5,000-km optical network for China Unicom that initially will support data rates as high as 40 Gbps per wavelength. However, the network will be 100-Gbps ready across the seven provinces of Chongqing, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu, Fujian, Guangdong, and Guangxi.
 

DISA awards Intellifiber three-year contract

Fujitsu is touting the results of a research report by Network Strategy Partners that finds Fujitsu’s implementation of Connection-Oriented Ethernet (COE), called Ethernet Tag Switching, offers a 32 percent savings in operations expense (opex) over five years versus MPLS-TP.
