GigOptix, Inc. (OTCBB: GGOX) says it has received a purchase order from a Tier 1 customer worth $750,000 for its 100-Gbps GX62450 dual-polarization quadrature phase-shift keying (DP-QPSK) quad modulator driver. The driver will be used in a 100-Gbps DWDM system. The order will be delivered in the second and third quarters of 2011, GigOptix says.

General Photonics has announced general availability for its TCA-1000 SmartLight tunable amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) source with 50-GHz channel spacing on the ITU grid. The fully polarized light source features a FWHM bandwidth of 0.3 nm. The TCA-1000 SmartLight is designed to emulate a 40-Gbps signal for polarization mode dispersion (PMD) effect tests, in-service link PMD measurement, PMD compensator evaluation, WDM channel testing, 40G system testing, and 40G optical component testing.

Xelerated has unveiled the HX336 network processor, which features integrated traffic management. When paired in the egress path with the previously announced HX326 network processor in the ingress path, designers can replace as many as six chips in 100 Gigabit Ethernet and OTU4 designs with two, according to Per Lembre, Xelerated’s director of product marketing.
