EXFO Inc. (Nasdaq:EXFO) (TSX:EXF) says it has added one-way delay measurement to its portable Ethernet backhaul test offering. The new capabilities complement EXFO's patent-pending bidirectional testing functionalities for IP/Ethernet service validation. EXFO says it now offers the only portable Ethernet backhaul test units to perform true one-way delay measurement, using any of the available reference clocks.

Australia-based test instrument company Kingfisher International has unveiled the KI2600 range of optical power meters for fiber-optic test and installation applications. The field-portable KI2600 can be used to verify optical power and loss in installed communications links using “most fiber types,” Kingfisher says.

The same operator also will deploy EXFO products for its DNS response time measurement needs, according to the test and measurement equipment and software provider.

Polatis has added a programmable shutter to the software features of its DIrectLight optical matrix switches. The feature is designed to enable users to introduce repeatable, precisely timed disconnections on multiple fiber paths through the optical switch with individually programmable shutter intervals between 10 ms to 10,000 ms.

Ixia (NASDAQ: XXIA) last week unveiled a G.709 Optical Transport Network (OTN) test offering for 40- (OTU3) and 100-Gbps (OTU4) data rates. The company has targeted its new XOTN product at the test requirements for packet-switched core transport networks, including MPLS and MPLS-TP protocol implementations.
