Last week PMC-Sierra, Inc. (Nasdaq:PMCS) announced a family of four 10G-EPON optical line terminal (OLT) system-on-a-chip (SoC) devices that between them support both symmetrical 10 Gbps as well as 10 Gbps downstream and 1 Gbps upstream for FTTH and FTTB applications. The devices also offer traffic management, packet processing, on-chip redundancy, and optical diagnostic capabilities.

Ikanos Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: IKAN) has unveiled the Fusiv Vx185 and Vx183, a pair of communications processors for services gateways and integrated access devices that, when paired with Fusiv-enabled central office equipment, will support increased bandwidth over copper in fiber to the node (FTTN) networks via ITU G.Vector performance.

NetLogic Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: NETL) says its new dual-channel AEL2020-LL 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) PHY with integrated serializer/deserializer (SerDes) features a latency of 70 nsec, a figure the company asserts is nearly a half that of competing chips. The AEL2020-LL PHY also offers the industry’s lowest power consumption, NetLogic Microsystems says.

Spectronix Inc. says it has added the Eye-BERT 10G and the Eye-BERT Micro 10G 10-Gbit bit error rate testers (BERTs) to its Eye-BERT product line. The two new BERT fiber-optic test and measurement systems are designed to combine low-cost and high performance via features not found in other test equipment.

Kawasaki Microelectronics America, Inc. (K-micro) has unveiled a burst-mode CDR SerDes PHY for XG-PON1 OLT applications. Available now in 65-nm and 40-nm process technologies for ASIC integration, the chip is designed to lock to upstream data bursts at 2.488 Gbps in less than 16 bits. K-micro says the CDR SerDes also can be configured to improve burst-mode lock time in GPON OLTs at 1.25 Gbps.
