VI Systems GmbH says it has launched shipments of arted to ship its first 28-Gbps transmitter optical subassembly (TOSA). The T40-850 combines the company’s proprietary 850-nm ultra-high-speed VCSEL and its newest SiGe BiCMOS integrated driver circuit. The overall power consumption is less than 150 mW, VI Systems asserts.

US Conec has unveiled a new line of low-loss MT Elite ferrules and MTP connector hardware for use with parallel optical modules targeted at applications of 100 Gbps and beyond. The MT Elite multimode connectors come in 24-fiber 16 fiber versions that are designed to ensure fiber-to-fiber physical contact between the mated pairs. Their new, higher spring force connector hardware is designed in accordance with the emerging multi-row IEC MPO intermateability standard, 61754-7-2.

Avago Technologies (Nasdaq:AVGO) says its new AFBR-57F5PZ SFP+ transceivers for 16 Gigabit Fibre Channel applications have reached production status. The transceivers support industry-standard signaling rates up to 14.025 GBd.
