Calix, Inc. (NYSE: CALX) says that Vermont independent telco Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom (WCVT) will use elements of the Calix Unified Access portfolio in a three-year network transformation project that includes both fiber to the home (FTTH) and fiber to the node (FTTN) elements. The FTTH project will use funds from the broadband stimulus program.

Datwyler Cables says it has successfully completed an FTTH pilot project for Zurich electricity company ewz. Starting in October 2010, Datwyler connected 106 buildings with 1400 residential units in the Hardstrasse area of Zurich, Switzerland.

The Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) Council has named Heather Burnett Gold as its new full-time president. She replaces Dan O’Connell, who resigned in October to become a senior vice president at Comcast.

One of the promises made by UK infrastructure provider CityFibre was to reinstate the FTTH network in Bournemouth, UK (see “CityFibre plans to invest up to £500m in UK fiber rollout”). Now it appears that it is making good on that promise.
