Acceptance Angle: The angle over which the core of an optical fiber accepts incoming light; usually measured from the fiber axis. Related to numerical aperture (NA).
All-dielectric cable: Cable made entirely of dielectric (insulating) materials without any metal conductors, armor or strength members.
Angle of Incidence: The angle between the incident ray and the normal to a reflecting or refracting surface.
Attenuation: Reduction of signal magnitude (or loss) normally measured in decibels. Fiber attenuation is normally measured per unit length in decibels per kilometer. The decrease in signal strength along a fiber optic waveguide caused by absorption and scattering. Attenuation is usually expressed in dB/km.
