Upton Park homes and businesses will get superfast broadband boost

BT Broadband has been aggressive with their broadband rollouts over the past few months. The operator is one of the staunch participants in the government’s Broadband Delivery UK project, which is set on improving hte UK’s broadband infrastructure and services.

BT Broadband had announced earlier that they would complete their fibre deployment by 2015. However, thanks to an accelerated schedule, the date of completion was pushed back a full year to 2014.

Now the latest area that will be benefiting from BT’s rollouts is Upton Park. Over 40,000 homes and establishments can look forward to enjoying superfast broadband speeds as BT’s engineers work to finish the upgrades within the next few weeks. Thanks to this latest development, the number of users in London who have access to BT’s high-speed network has been pushed up to 2,250,000.

Chet Patel, BT’s director for London, stated: “The arrival of super-fast broadband in Upton Park is a huge boost for local households and businesses. These are economically challenging times and super-fast broadband can transform their experience of the internet. They’re joining more than seven million UK premises now passed by one of the world’s fastest growing fibre networks.”

More improvements are under way as BT has revealed its plans to link 325,000 more households and firms with their high-speed broadband technology later this year.

Patel added: “Fast and reliable internet connections are an essential part of our national infrastructure, whether we want them for boosting our businesses, delivering essential public services , education online or entertainment at home. Nobody is doing more than BT to roll-out faster broadband across London, and we want to go further.”

“Local authorities and business organisations are keen to get fibre broadband to as many local homes and businesses as possible. We will offer our help and assistance to make that happen, in tandem with our own plans to boost speeds in general.”
