Twain Telephone deploys Zhone MXK for xDSL connectivity

Zhone Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: ZHNE) says that Mark Twain Telephone Co. is deploying the MXK intelligent terabit access concentrator to enable xDSL connectivity to its 5,000 access lines in northern Missouri.

"As part of our upgrade and rebuild of two telephone exchanges earlier this year, we’ve been continually impressed with the functionality and stability of Zhone’s MXK platform," said Bill Rohde, general manager of Mark Twain. "Alongside upgrading to a 10-gig transport network, we are also deploying new access technology to provide high-bandwidth connectivity to our subscribers and position the network for fiber expansion in the future, in a cost-effective manner.

He added, "After our lengthy internal testing, we were convinced of Zhone’s ability to provide us the most robust and carrier-class platform for our needs. We have been highly impressed with Zhone’s product offerings and their overall commitment to making our deployment successful as we upgrade service to our 5,000 access customers."

The remotely managed MXK multi-service access platform delivers high-speed xDSL connectivity to cope with increased bandwidth demands, and provides a migration path to future fiber connectivity when needed -- allowing Mark Twain to design its network for maximum flexibility and efficiency, Zhone asserts.

To date, Zhone says it has deployed more than 2,600 of its MXK platforms with more than 150 service providers in more than 40 countries globally.
