OpenNet rejects the offer of M1, silent on StarHub

Network builder OpenNet has rejected M1's offer - again - to be its contractor to ease delays in connecting customers to the ultra-fast fibre broadband network.

It has also yet to take up a similar offer from StarHub, providing little relief to customers facing delays in getting fibre broadband services.

These delays first surfaced last June. Since then, customers have had to wait up to six weeks to get fibre broadband services on the Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network (NGNBN).

The bottleneck has been traced to OpenNet, which has to activate the fibre-optic cables for clients to get broadband connections after signing up with Internet service providers like SingTel, StarHub and M1.
