Omron Network Products, LLC (ONP), the leading manufacturer of high-performance optical modules for VoF (Video over Fiber) and high speed data transmission, announced today the demonstration of a new bidirectional optical module capable of transmitting 14Gb/s downstream and 155Mb upstream, all over a single multimode fiber. Transmission distances from 300m to 1km are possible using the new device. The new product, called the Data Module or P1xX6B-SX51x-02A, will be shown to select customers at a private suite concurrent with Infocomm International(R) 2012 in Las Vergas, Nevada June 13-15.
The new Data Module is designed for easy use and quick implementation into various fiber extension products. The Data Module includes a pre-programmed laser driver, an integrated SC clip and a durable metal housing with EMI shielding.
Martin Smith, ONP's Director of Marketing, said, "Many of our customers told us they wanted a bidirectional module that would allow them more flexibility in designs, and we listened. The new Data Module is protocol-agnostic and can be configured to suit a variety of applications, giving our customers the ability to differentiate their product." Brian Peters, Chief Operating Officer of ONP went on to say, "Because of its flexible interface, the new Data Module is ideal for a broad range of markets including industrial automation, security cameras, medical imaging, and of course high-definition video." ONP has several new products launching in the next 12 months, aimed at increasing bandwidth and lowering power consumption throughout the industry. Customers who wish to see the demonstration of ONP's new product lineup should contact their ONP sales representative immediately to schedule an appointment.
