Integra grows on-net fiber presence to over 2,000 buildings

Integra Telecom has reached another major milestone in its effort to expand into larger business opportunities as it has expanded its on-net fiber connections to over 2,000 buildings in its serving region.

Since January, the CLEC has expanded its fiber connection to 2,013 buildings, including 115 new customer builds.

This fiber expansion effort is well timed with its move to expand its suite of higher bandwidth Ethernet and cloud services to retail customers and for wholesale customers looking an alternative partner to serve their respective customers for their off-net service efforts.

Coming on the heels of its recent Ethernet over Copper (EoC) expansion effort into 120 COs in its six-state Western U.S. footprint, the growth of the fiber footprint will also support all of the service provider's new services, including Ethernet, cloud services and its recently announced wavelength service suite.

Coupled with its metro and long-haul fiber network, the ongoing drive to bring fiber into more buildings enables Integra to deliver point-to-point connectivity up to 10 Gbps, particularly multi-site vertical segments such as health care, government, financial and professional services.

While the service provider had been well known in the SMB space, one that it continues to serve, having over 2,000 buildings on-net illustrates that the CLEC is becoming a more serious threat to both telcos but also cable operators trying to get a larger share of the business market.
