AFL offers new user interface for NOYES M200 OTDR

AFL’s M200 OTDR now sports a new user interface (UI). UI version 2.0 is designed to simplify use and reduce training time and fiber-optic testing errors.

New interface features include:
•Pass/fail thresholds compliant with TIA/ISO/user-defined values to alert test operators of failing or marginal events at the time of test
•Enhanced reporting capability with Test Results Manager (TRM) includes OTDR traces, end-face images from new DFS1, and logos of both the installer and end customer
•A “new job” creation editor with detailed job/file naming
•Improved file management and results review via Results Manager
•General settings improvements including date/time/number format options and an “auto off” feature.

AFL describes TRM as a PC analysis and reporting software tool that enables users to apply industry standards-based rules to test results and create comprehensive certification reports. The benefits of TRM include improved batch editing of OTDR traces and enhanced analysis and editing capability including trace batch editor of events and pass/fail thresholds, cursors, and file names, AFL asserts.

The M200 OTDR with integrated visual fault locator combines ease of use (via AFL's trademarked Touch and Test feature) and functionality in a field-rugged, hand-held package, according to AFL. The M200 features the following improvements:
•The addition of a toggle function that enables fast and logical storage of trace results from both ends of a fiber/cable
•Enhanced event measurements with various manual LSA methods available in Expert mode.

The M200 with new UI supports visual inspection per IEC 61300-3-35 using the new DFS1 Digital FiberScope, which is designed to afford users the ability to view and document connector end-face images with OTDR traces. Thousands of OTDR test results can be stored internally or on the supplied USB drive. Test results are transferable to a computer for viewing, printing, and analyzing with the supplied TRM Windows-compatible software.
