The training, in conjunction with BDI DataLynk, will allow participants who successfully complete the course to become a certified fiber optics technician. The program includes classroom instruction and hands-on participation and is internationally recognized, accredited by BICSI, and sanctioned by the Fiber Optics Association.
The first course begins on Monday, Aug. 13 and continues through Aug. 15. The cost is $700 per student and leads to a Certified Fiber Optics Technician designation for those who successfully complete the training.
A second track in the course leads to a Certified Fiber Optic Technician Outside Plant designation. It will be held Aug. 16-18 at a cost of $775 per student.
The Nov. schedule includes Basic Certified Fiber Optics, Certified Fiber Optics Specialist in Testing and Maintenance and Certified Fiber Optics Splicing Specialist training. The courses will be held Nov. 13-15, Nov. 16-17, and Nov. 18-19 respectively. The cost is $700 for the CFOT certification, and $675 each for the CFOS/T and CFOS/T courses.
Fees include books and training materials, a one-year membership in FOA, and certification assessment. Certifications are recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor.
Courses will be held from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Interested participants should have a basic working knowledge of computers, the ability to identify small items, and be able to speak and understand English.
