Hudson Fiber Network, Cross River Fiber tap into low-latency opportunity of New Jersey

Hudson Fiber Network (HFN), a competitive fiber network provider, is the latest service provider to make a foothold in New Jersey's low latency services market via a partnership with Cross River Fiber.

The two service providers have established a low-latency express fiber route between 755 Secaucus Road in Secaucus, NJ and 300 Boulevard East in Weehawken, NJ targeting financial trading companies that have exchanges collocated at these sites.

Under the terms of the partnership agreement, HFN and Cross River Fiber both have exclusive access to sell capacity to companies that want an alternative low-latency provider.

When the path is completed in Q4 this year, interested customers will be able to purchase a suite of dark fiber, lit services and passive wavelength services.

While a lot of attention has been paid to the New York City as a major low latency hub, New Jersey is fast becoming a competitive and perhaps crowded market with a host of incumbent players such as Verizon with its Verizon Financial Network (VFN), but also a growing set of other competitive and international providers including Lightower Fiber Networks and Tata. Lightower just built a diverse network route to DuPont Fabros Technology's NJ1 data center, while Tata established a global low latency network.

One of the obvious aspects of all of the recent activity to build express routes to key New Jersey data centers is that financial and even non-financial companies will have various connectivity choices.
