Openreach, the telecoms giant's local access network business, is set to showcase the technology by taking a specially-adapted vehicle to the city's Tamar Science Park and Langage Business Park today (May 22nd 2012).
Staff will be on hand to explain how next-generation broadband works and to give businesses tips on how the service could improve their efficiency.
BT rolled out fibre optic broadband to almost 70,000 homes and businesses in Plymouth, Exeter and Ivybridge toward the end of last year and is set to upgrade Devonport and St Budeaux by next spring.
By the end of 2014, the company is aiming to roll out the technology to two-thirds of UK properties.
Paul Coles of BT's regional programme team acknowledged that businesses often have little spare time, but stressed that the service provider is keen to outline the benefits of faster broadband.
"We have seen many examples where companies have been able to improve their operations, attract customers and make cost savings once they have super-fast broadband," he added.
