EarthLink names XO veteran Michael Toplisek to head IT Services division

EarthLink Inc. (Nasdaq: ELNK) has named Michael Toplisek as its new executive vice president of IT services, a move it says will help the company advance its IT solutions vision for business customers.

Toplisek is perhaps best known in the industry for his tenure at XO Communications. During his time with that CLEC he made two large accomplishments: the launch of its Cloud Solutions business and as chief marketing officer, he developed a strategy to grow its Business Service division.

Reporting to EarthLink's CEO and Chairman Rolla Huff, Toplisek will be responsible for overseeing its IT Services product development, management and marketing for its growing IT Services business suite, which includes virtualization, managed security, application services, managed support and data center services.

Meanwhile, Brian Fink, who was serving as the interim leader of EarthLink's IT Services initiatives, will continue in his role as chief technology officer.

Through a series of targeted acquisitions and various in-house initiatives, including its recent Cloud Workspace service, EarthLink has been building a set of cloud-based IT services. Adding Toplisek to its leadership team will enable the CLEC to take all of these assets and hone them into a cohesive IT services strategy for its growing business service customer base.
