Select Fusion Splicer For Transition To Next Genera

Fujikura has announced a contract extension with Belgian incumbent operator, Belgacom, for the company’s fusion splicer products. Through its Belgium-based distributor, Crosswise, Fujikura will supply to Belgacom its 50S fusion splicer and newly upgraded CT-30A fiber cleaver.

Belgacom is transitioning from a copper network to an upgraded fiber-optic network. In order to reduce the number of optical connectors in the network, the operator is using fusion splicing in all distribution frames where connectors are not vital for fiber management.

The deal is the latest in a series of fusion splicer contract wins for Fujikura across the region. In the last year, the company signed similar deals with Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom Group.
