Fiber optic network build in Ticonderoga
CROWN POINT -- Crown Point Telephone is developing a new company that will build a fiber-optic network in Ticonderoga.
The new subsidiary will construct a network to serve the Ticonderoga business community.
Fiber-optic cable can transmit information more securely and faster than traditional copper cable.
The technology is increasingly replacing older modes of transmission for television, phone, Internet and data service.
Installation is expected to begin in the spring.
More details about the new business, including its name, will be announced at a Ticonderoga Chamber of Commerce mixer at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Crown Point Telephone offices in Crown Point.
