JDSU intros 16G Fibre Channel test instrument

DSU (NASDAQ: JDSU) (TSX: JDU) has released the Xgig 16G Fibre Channel Analyzer. JDSU describes the new instrument as the first FC test tool that enables storage equipment manufacturers to complete the development of storage and storage area network (SAN) equipment compatible with 16G Fibre Channel technology.

The JDSU Xgig 16G Fibre Channel Analyzer is designed to provide accurate, fast, and comprehensive analysis of 16G Fibre Channel links to quickly identify and fix mission-critical errors, ensure quality data transmission, and improve overall equipment and network performance.

The Xgig 16G Fibre Channel Analyzer can be used to validate development, integration, and interoperability functions that are in compliance with the 16G Fibre Channel specification, and help accelerate time to market. The Fibre Channel analyzer is a blade option that fits into the JDSU Xgig 5000 chassis. JDSU says that adding the Fibre Channel Analyzer blade to the Xgig 5000 provides a number of benefits:
Provides complete system visibility by capturing 16G FC traffic at full line rate
Reduces tool investment and simplifies test bench setup with its high-port count capacity
Achieves full analysis coverage by identifying network issues at all layers
Simplifies verification of converged network equipment through end-to-end traffic analysis across multiple protocols (including FC, DCB, FCoE, Ethernet, and others) all from a single platform
