EXFO offers OTN testing for 100G/40G Ethernet client services qualification

EXFO Inc. (Nasdaq:EXFO) (TSX:EXF) says it has enhanced its FTB/IQS-85100G Packet Blazer 100G/40G Ethernet Test Modules with 40-Gigabit Ethernet and 100-Gigabit Ethernet mapping over Optical Transport Network (OTN) fiber-optic testing capabilities. The new features include the ability to assess the mapping of 100-Gigabit Ethernet services into OTU4 (111.81 Gbps) and transcoded 40-Gigabit Ethernet services into OTU3 (43.018 Gbps) using the Generic Mapping Procedure (GMP) from ITU-T G.709.

The added functionalities come as a software option for existing 85100G Packet Blazer modules—housed in EXFO's FTB-500 Platform and IQS-600 Integrated Qualification System.

According to EXFO, network operators can use the new capabilities to:
qualify 40-Gigabit Ethernet and 100-Gigabit Ethernet IP traffic transmission at 100 percent throughput over OTN
measure round-trip delay (RTD) across the optical path and latency at the service level
ensure transparent recovery of the client signal at the receiver end.
