PRE-LOADED EPOXY AND NO-EPOXY & POLISH
The Pre-Loaded and No-Epoxy & Polish connectors require less skill but don’t necessarily reduce the time or equipment needed to do an installation. This type of connector includes the ST, SC and FC connectors. The Pre-Loaded connectors are just that, pre-loaded with a measured amount of epoxy. The second category, just like it says, uses no epoxy at all. This connector uses an internal crimp mechanism to hold the fiber in place. The benefits of using these, are that no epoxy injection is required at all.
You have no scrapped connectors because a technician overfilled the connector with epoxy and with some versions, you have reduced expense due to equipment that is not required on some types of connectors (eg, may not require a curing oven). The installation time required for pre-loaded connectors may have a short set-up time but as this still requires “curing”, the installation time is similar to standard connectors. For exanple 25 minutes for 1 connector, then 5 to 6 minutes for subsequent connectors in a batch. The connectors that use the internal crimp method will install in 2 minutes or less. These connectors are more expensive than the standard connector, however, the equipment cost is about equal or less than that of standard connectors. Also, your costs will be reduced to only polish film and cleaning supplies.
