BroadLight XG-PON1 OLT, ONT semiconductors commercially available

PON silicon and software vendor BroadLight says that it now has standards-compliant ITU-T G.987 XG-PON1 OLT and ONT devices commercially available. The company asserts it is the first to be able to make such a claim.

XG-PON1 is the latest ITU-T GPON standard that supports 10-Gbps downstream and 2.5 Gbps upstream.

BroadLight’s XG-PON OLT offering is the BB1160. It is complemented by the BB1170 XGPON ONT chip. Both are now shipping, the company says.

“XG-PON enables carriers a robust continuity of their ITU-T PON networks, meeting their evolving service deployments demands by scaling bandwidth, subscriber count and lowering power consumption profiles”, says Doron Tal, BroadLight’s vice president of business development and product marketing. “We continue executing on our commitment to lead the PON processors market through enabling our customers with XGPON solutions.”
