Anritsu launches OTU4 mapping capability for MD1260A Analyzer

Anritsu Co. says it has released an OTU4 mapping option for its MD1260A 40/100-Gbps Ethernet Analyzer that can configure the MD1260A to conduct analysis for 40GbE, 100GbE, OTU3, and OTU4. The new option creates a single-instrument that can assure the quality of high-speed networks used in cloud computing applications, claims Anritsu.

With the new option, Anritsu asserts the MD1260A can:
Support GMP (Generic Mapping Procedure) mapping with Ethernet client signals at OTU4 rates for Gigabit Ethernet, 10GbE, and 100GbE client signal types to evaluate if GMP mapping is being conducted properly
Support all error and alarm testing at OTU, ODU, GMP, GFP-T, and client layers
Offer a client-signal adjustable clock offset at OTN frame payload
Verify MUX/DEMUX and clock tolerance between OTU4 and Ethernet

Also for OTU3 and OTU4 applications, Anritsu says it developed an OH manipulation feature that will allow all OTN OH, including TCMi, TTI, and FTFL, to be monitored and edited. Also, OH, OTN frame, and GMP can be captured for 512 OTN frames, the company states. Each OH group can be displayed as a multi-frame image to enable users to identify changes in OH values.

Three types of through mode at the OTN rate are now supported by the MD1260A. The analyzer can inject random error in accordance with 0.182 to verify GFEC decoder performance, as well as support proper FEC using the OTN through mode. With this feature, users can also manipulate the OTN OH on real network data to evaluate network behavior during monitoring, claims Anritsu.

The MD1260A also conducts 40/100-Gbps tolerance tests that exceed IEEE/ITU-T standards up to +/-120 ppm at CAUI. A new service disruption time measurement (SDT) feature supports testing of the time when no frames are received, such as when there is route switching due to a fiber break.

Operating the MD1260A analyzer is easy via a large 12.1-inch touch panel and intuitive GUI, states Anritsu. An operation log function generates remote commands automatically from the GUI, which reduces development time for automatic tests. The MD1260A also contains a flash drive.

The new OTU4 mapping option has a U.S. price of $6,242. The base MD1260A analyzer is $124,844.
